April 12 , 2009 I birder for about 2 hours yesterday, Sat. morning at Neshoba Park on the Wolf River. The first hour I saw two pairs of Northern Shoveler Ducks on a small pond across from the park. Also saw a pair of Common Loons at the Park. The second hour was better. After walking on a path into the woods, I came across an area that had so many different birds I couldn't id them all!! I did see and hear a white eyed Vireo (FOS) and a Prothonotary warbler (FOS). One large tree had 6 or 7 different species and the best being my FOS Eastern Kingbird! I saw several flocks of Cedar Waxwings, some rather deep in the woods. I can't remember seeing so many Cedar Waxwings this time of year or really ever. Perhaps this beautiful bird is growing in population?? Good Birding!
