After finding 7 species of sparrows at Ensley Bottoms, I went to Eagle Lake
to try the extensive fields of Barn Yard Grass for LeConte's or Sharp-tails.
One out of two is not bad as at least two Nelson's Sharp-tails were flushed
and glowed in the bright sun. They pass through quickly and quietly and the
right habitat and time are the keys.

An unexpected find was a Baird's Sandpiper in the company of a group of
Killdeer. The flight pattern of this bird is easily distinguished from other
peeps. I got quite a few photos as the birds circled. As I've said before,
Baird's Sandpipers, for such a long distance migrating species, has very
extended
migration periods. The only months that I don't have records for them around
here, are December and January.
Good Birding !!!
