All the birds are taking advantage of bird baths and sprinklers in this dry heat. Yesterday I looked out to see an accipiter standing in the bird bath out back. Of course it had the pool all to it's self. Not another bird in sight, although a brave hummer harassed it after it flew to a perch. Immature Sharp-shinned Hawk, I believe, judging by head size, eye placement and color of breast and belly streaks. And my first impression of size was sharp-shinned, but that's harder to judge up close.
