I visited Seven Islands (Knox Co.) today after work from around 5-6:30 pm. It was very quiet at first but I ended up with some good birds including the first male harrier i've seen here, a Palm Warbler, and 6 Bobwhite that scared me to death when flushed. N. Harrier - 2 (1m,1 silhouetted-probably f) Amer. Kestrel - 2 Bufflehead - 1 m Mallard - 2 Canada Goose - 30+ Great Blue Heron - 3 Belted Kingfisher - 1 Song Sparrow White-Thr. Cardinal I also visited Kyker Bottoms (Blount Co.)on Tues. and Sun. of last week and had a few life-birds including Loggerhead Shrike, Amer. Wigeon, Ruddy Duck, and Swamp Sparrow (1st time I was sure at least)-as well as FOS tree swallow. Thanks to this website I knew exactly where to find the Shrike - right out in the open across from the gray barn--very nice. I also got my 1st Redhead last Tues. at the pond off Baum Dr.in W. Knoxville thanks to Carole Gobert's posting. I viewed it from my vehicle (along w/ my redheaded niece) from 20-30 ft away. Thanks to everyone for the postings, they have been very valuable to my growing life-list. Shane Williams - Knoxville _____________________________________________________________ Netscape.
