Victor and I stopped by the (flooded) Pump Station of the Duck River Unit
TNWR today at 10 a.m.
We had poor visibility and saw only a handful of Canvasbacks and Ruddy
Ducks, plus a few Swallows. 65 Tree, 1 each Barn Swallow and Purple Martin .
Around 3 p.m. I talked to Alan Troyer, who mentioned that he and Seth
Beachy were at the Pump Station around noon and saw a Black Scoter and a
I went back tonight (arrived at 4:40 p.m.) and had excellent visibility
with close to a thousand divers in sight. I picked out 3 White-winged
Scoters and a flyby continuing male Surf Scoter, but didn't have enough
time before dark and I missed the Red-necked Grebe and the Black Scoter.
