[TN-Bird] Sandhill Cranes - Ridiculous Numbers

After reports of Sandhill Cranes on the ground from several White County
friends, my wife and I lit out today to check out the situation. I drove the
area around Old Smithville Hwy. and Jim Fancher Road – cranes everywhere.
Drove up Jim Fancher Road to Duck Pond Road – cranes everywhere. Then drove
down Duck Pond Road to the Black Oak Road area - cranes everywhere. Our final
count – and I think it is likely low – was 4,500! That's right, 4,500 Sandhill
Cranes! My head is still swimming. Had to check my GPS to make sure I wasn't
near the Platt River in Nebraska. One sad note. Though I searched and
searched through the flocks of cranes, never could find one of them white ones.
