In response to Jan Shaw's comment in another post, this should
certainly have been posted here, and still should be posted for the
archive:
A juvenile SABINE'S GULL was reported on Oct. 10 in a late afternoon eBird
report by Robert Deegan. Many local birders, myself included, were way down
at Pickwick Dam, hoping for Hurricane Delta birds. The initial report
lacked some detail, and of course the bird may not have been re-found, in
any case.
Yesterday morning, Oct. 11, Steven Goodbred and Pamela Lasley both reported
the gull re-found from Snow Bunting Peninsula in Davidson County, and Lock
3, across the water in Sumner, respectively. It was posted to rare bird
alerts on Facebook and the Telegram app.
The bird was seen actively feeding and sitting on the water all day. I
personally observed it from both sides, and out in the middle on my kayak.
Last seen just past 5pm. I have seen one eBird report from the area this
morning, but not seen any reference to anyone scanning specifically for the
bird.
