[TN-Bird] Re: Rusty Blackbirds at Old Hickory; Purple Finches at Long Hunter SP (correction)

Chris Sloan questioned me about the loons, which were actually on Percy Priest
lake not Old Hickory. There were only 1-2 loons at Old Hickory.

Scott Somershoe mentioned large numbers of gulls coming to Percy Priest in the
evening. Does anyone know where they are hanging out in the daytime? I looked
for but saw few gulls around the lake. Are they just that spread out?

Subject: [TN-Bird] Rusty Blackbirds at Old Hickory; Purple Finches at Long
Hunter SP

Birding around Old Hickory and Percy Priest lakes this weekend there were 23+
Rusty Blackbirds near Old Hickory Dam (12/5/2010) hanging around with
Red-winged

Blackbirds and a pair of Purple Finches at Long Hunter SP (12/4/2010). One of
the blackbirds had white wing patches, which made me run for my scope, but it
was a female Red-winged with a couple of white secondary wing feather. There
were about 100 Common Loons on Old Hickory, but duck numbers seemed low on both
lakes.
