Virginia saw a mature Rufous Hummingbird twice today at one of our feeders.
It sat at any angle that she could not see the head to determine if it was a
mature male or female but the color was unmistakable. The last time it fed
was about 4:30 p.m. but did not return before dark so it may have moved on;
we'll be watching when daylight comes tomorrow to see if it is still around.

We also had an immature Ruby-throated male hummer since October 25th but
after seeing it this morning we did not see it the rest of the day at either
of our two feeders. Knowing how Rufous hummers dominate feeders and don't
tolerate others, we think it may have run off the Ruby-throated or maybe
both decided to get away from the predicted heavy rains tomorrow.
