Rob Harbin and I had another Ruff (Reeve) today, 4-19-21 at the pits in
Memphis Tennessee. This is the fourth individual photographed in West TN
this Season since April 2nd. The other three were all males found in Lake
County by ACL and Redwine, Alan Troyer and Mark Greene respectively.
I saw all of them except for Mark's bird which I drove past half an hour
before he found it and decided not to glass that area for the third time
that day.
There are photos of all four birds that show them to be different
individuals. One can only imagine the number of Ruffs that are really out
there in the masses of shorebirds on a year like this, but my guess would
be that we find less than half of them.
