Last week I watched a female hummingbird remodel an old nest (that was built,
by her?, in 2014). She laid the first egg on 28 April and the second egg this
morning (30 April). This is my first hummingbird nest for 2015 and the 80th
active hummingbird nest I have found near my house in Weakley Co. during the
past 5 years. (An active nest is a nest in which eggs or young are present; I
have found several inactive nests, but cannot use them in my study of nesting
success.) The 100th anniversary year of TOS would be a good year to reach my
goal of 100 active nests; not likely to happen, but possible.
