I went to Chilhowee Lake in BlountCounty today with the idea of trying to find
snow geese, Ross'sgeese, or white-fronted geese. Either of these three would
have beena new find for me in Blount County. On the way back, after findingnone
of the three, I explained to my wife that odds were that therewere probably no
individuals of any of the three species anywhere inBlount County at the time.
Then I checked my phone and found outthat Morton Massey had just reported a
Ross's goose in Cades Covethat morning. (Sigh....) Oh, well. However, I was
rewarded withthe best pictures of a bald eagle that I have ever taken and a
shortaudio as well.
