Thomas Farm Hwy. 27 Hamilton Co. Chattanooga TN. Just after noon today as I was passing by Thomas farm I saw several white birds near the lake. My first impulse was that it was possibly gulls. I stopped anyway and got the scope out. I saw 9 geese of some type. About a half hour later I was able to determine that 7 of them were definitely Ross'. The other two were identical except their bill more resembled a Snow Goose but they were lacking a "grin patch." I suppose those two were hybrids. On other smaller water surfaces were Mallards, Gadwall and American Wigeons. Canada's were present but were not in the vicinity of the Ross'.
