A gorgeous mature male Rose-breasted Grosbeak flew into our open sunflower
feeder this morning and raised our excitement level several notches. He is
about 10 days earlier than we normally get one but whenever they appear it is
one of the highlights of our spring birding. We also have had lots of
Ruby-throated Hummingbirds joining the three males that have been here for over
a week. Yesterday a Northern Parula and Red-eyed Vireo caught our attention
and I'm sure there were more migrants but we had to stain our new deck and were
busy all day. A Yellow-billed Cuckoo is calling right now but we haven't seen
it yet.
