I observed a Robin building a nest, and every time the Robin left, a Brown-headed Cowbird moved in! This created quite a conflict when both birds arrived at the same time! Susan Baumgardner _http://chipmunknits.blogspot.com_ (http://chipmunknits.blogspot.com) WOW, Susan! Your message came in on TN-Bird while I was putting my noon meal on the stove here in the Charlotte Park area of West Nashville, Davidson County. While prepping veggies in front of my kitchen window, a blue jay flew into the althea bush just off the deck. It was followed by an attacking robin who tried and tried attacks on the jay. I thought it was too early to nest, but the blue jay had a robin's egg in its beak which caused the robin's fierce anger. About a hundred cedar waxwings are here at the moment, and they keep flying back and forth from the hackberry trees to the gutter on the house to drink water that has collected there and not run off yet. I just stepped outside and took several poor, but documentary-good, photos of the thirsty cedars. My hungry mockingbirds come to the dining room door to let me know they want peanut butter. They also come to my call when I put peanut butter out, and they are not here. They fly right in as soon as I shout "C'mon Bossies!"
