My brother, who lives in Erwin, TN, told me about an interesting sighting he and apparently many other people saw on Main Avenue in Erwin, TN, near the Clinchfield Federal Credit Union on May 28. A Ring-necked Pheasant, it seems, was out enjoying a stroll, and attracted quite a bit of attention. My brother was unaware that the Ring-necked Pheasant is not a native bird, but thought they lived in the woodlands along with Wild Turkey and Ruffed Grouse. The bird was most likely an escaped domestic bird, but I recalled there have been some other sporadic sightings in the region recently reported on either TN-Birds or Bristol-Birds. Are there any established populations any longer exisiting in Tennessee? Just curious.
