Had a pair of Red-shouldered Hawks on the greenbelt this morning along Reedy Creek behind K-Mart in Kingsport. I saw one bird there last week. Today they were perched together. Maybe they will nest there, it's good Red-shouldered habitat. This is not a very common hawk around Kingsport. Also saw two Cooper's Hawk's. I seem to see these birds much more frequently than in the late 70's when I was out in the field a lot. What I have seen very few of the last few weeks are American Kestrels. They seem to be scarce everywhere I have looked in the Tri-cities recently. Anyone else notice this. Maybe my eyes are just goin' bad. Hope that's the case.
