Lesser Black-backed Gull was hanging out on the bar visible from the dead end
of the road out to Rankin Bottoms, Cocke County, at sunset. 20-30 Ring-billed
Gulls and two Caspian Terns there as well.

The Ruff was busy feeding amongst the Pectoral Sandpipers and Killdeer about
half way between the end of the road and the Coal Tipple. I missed the Ruff
when scanning with the scope from shore, but it suddenly appeared 30 yrds away
when I was out in kayak taking pictures of the common birds. Got decent
(ID-able) photos of Ruff and L B-b Gull.

Seemed to be a lot of shorebirds with vast majority being Killdeer and Pectoral
Sandpipers. Saw 2 Baird's Sandpipers, 2 Buff-breasted Sandpipers, dowitcher,
and Black-bellied Plover and most of the species mentioned in Rick's post from
Saturday (below). Did not see the Laughing Gull.

Old road out through the mudflats is still mostly underwater.
