Erin Schiding and I birded Rankin Bottoms (Douglas Lake) on April 18, 2006
from 12:36 to 3:02. Lake elevation was 974. An abridged list of birds
observed follows.

Wilson snipe- 8
Greater yellowlegs- 1 (clearly a larger bird next to the lesser yellowlegs.
The greater's wing tips did
not project beyond the tail, and it had black barring down the flanks.)
Lesser yellowlegs- 4
Peregrine falcon- 1
Osprey- 2 (one on a nest)
Bald eagles- 2 juveniles flying together
Green Heron- 2
Prothonotary warbler- 4
Marsh Wren- 1 (this bird had a black eye line with an obvious white
supercillium above it. It had
reddish scapulars, a mostly solid dark crown, inconspicuous barring in
wings.)
