Douglas Lake, Cocke county, 1/22/13, 1:30 PM
Lake elevation: 985.2 ft.
Water level increased 30 feet after the recent heavy rains - Douglas Lake is a
flood control reservoir for the TVA system. Rankin Bottoms was inundated,
looking like mid-August.
Cleanup report: according to a county official, the KCCB truck hauled off 820
lbs. of trash picked up by volunteers at the Dec. 8 litter cleanup.
Seen today:
Great Blue Heron (9)
Red-shouldered Hawk (juv.)
Ring-billed Gull (1700)
Bonapart's Gull - a few scattered among the others
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Common Raven (near Rankin Bridge)
