Rankin Bottoms, Cocke county, 7/6/10, 6-8:30 PM, by canoe Douglas Lake elevation: 991.5 ft. Lake elevation had been at full pool, about 994 ft,. since early May, too deep for wading birds and submerging the muddy edges that attract shorebirds. TVA began drawing down the lake recently because of the lack of heavy rainfall farther down the river system. As expected, shorebirds & waders are starting to show up.
