Radnor Lake State Natural Area Davidson Co. Nashville, TN Monday 2010 September 13 7:20-9:20 am clear and cool Monday morning was so cool and clear that I had to visit Radnor Lake again. As Chris Sloan reported, Saturday's excursion to Radnor proved to be most impressive (between us we had a 14th warbler species that he forgot to mention, a NASHVILLE WARBLER. Although activity had slowed down today, there were still birds of note. The dam area was by far the most active, and while there I picked up two new TN birds for the year. First, a lovely male GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER was seen at eye level as he ate breakfast. Of course I did NOT have my camera with me. I also got my first WARBLING VIREO for the year. Of the 6 AM REDSTARTs seen, 2 were adult males. A flock of 55 CHIMNEY SWIFTs twittered as they coursed over the lake. Birds of interest included: Wood Duck 40+ Chimney Swift 55 Ruby-throated Hummingbird 2 Acadian Flycatcher 1 White-eyed Vireo 3 -- one singing Warbling Vire 1 Swainson's Thrush 1 Golden-winged Warbler 2 Chestnut-sided Warbler 2 - one with chestnut sides, one without Magnolia Warbler 6 Black-and-white Warbler 1 American Redstart 6 -- 2 adult males Frank Fekel Nashville, TN =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to SIGN YOUR MESSAGE with first and last name, CITY (TOWN) and state abbreviation.
