Radnor Lake, Nashville, TN Friday morning 7-9:15 am West Parking lot to Lake trail to Long Bridge and back. I could not resist the call of the wild this morning. The cold front with its fall-like temperatures sure brought in the migrants. Compared to Monday, it was a huge bonanza. My short walk resulted in finding 4 mixed warbler flocks and a total of 12 warbler species. Blue-winged Warbler 1 Golden-winged Warbler 3 (2 stunning adult males. Relatively rare in the spring in Nashville, but they come through during fall migration in a big way.) Northern Parula 1 Chestnut-sided 4 Magnolia 6 Black-throated Green 1 Blackburnian 1 (a gorgeous male) Black-and-white Warbler 3 American Redstart 4 (no adult males) Ovenbird 1 Common Yellowthroat 1 female Canada Warbler 1 Also seen: Solitary Sandpiper 1 (Amazing since there is essentially no habitat here) Swainson's Thrush 2 Red-eyed Vireo 3 Common Grackle 120+ Frank Fekel Tennessee State University Center of Excellence in Information Systems 330 10th Avenue North Nashville, TN 37203 USA =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to sign your messages with first and last name, city (town) and state abbreviation. ----------------------------------------------------- To post to this mailing list, simply send email to: tn-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ----------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send email to: tn-bird-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Topographical Maps located at http://topozone.com/find.asp * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the Tennessee Ornithological Society web site at http://www.tnbirds.org * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TN-Bird Net Owner: Wallace Coffey, Bristol, TN jwcoffey@xxxxxxxxxx (423) 764-3958 =========================================================
