Radnor Lake State Natural Area Davidson Co. Nashville, TN Thursday, 2008 April 10 7-9 am mostly cloudy, breezy On Thursday morning Kevin Bowden and I birded at Radnor Lake from the west parking lot to Long Bridge and back. We found a nice assortment of migrants. Water birds included 38 LESSER SCAUP, 13 BLUE-WINGED TEAL, 1 PIED BILLED GREBE and some WOOD DUCKs. Land migrants were highlighted by at least a dozen RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETs and 18+ YELLOW RUMPED WARBLERs. A silent YELLOW-THROATED VIREO was one of our first finds. However, some migrants were singing and thus more easily spotted. They included 2 N. PARULAs, 1 HOODED WARBLER, and 1 PRAIRIE WARBLER. Three tail wagging PALM WARBLERs and 1 BLUE-WINGED WARBLER also brightened our spirits. Indeed, it must be spring at Radnor with the addition of 4 WHITE-EYED VIREOs, singing at full voice. All in all, a great spring day. -- Frank Fekel Tennessee State University Center of Excellence in Information Systems 3500 John A.
