Radnor Lake State Natural Area
Davidson Co., TN
2018 Oct 26
This Friday morning I went to Radnor Lake despite the light rain.
I spent much of the time around the dam spillway, which, like the
past few days, has been where most of the activity has been. At
the spillway this morning as seen from the bridge there was still
a small flock of 5-6 BAY-BREASTED WARBLERs feeding close to the
ground. Looking down and seeing the backs of warblers is not
something that one often gets a chance to do. Also there were
a MAGNOLIA WARBLER and WHITE-EYED VIREO that I'd seen a couple
days earlier. As I looked down on the warblers feeding at the
water's edge, a pleasant surprise was a lone RUSTY BLACKBIRD,
my first of the fall, who was similarly foraging for food in
the very shallow water.
