Radnor Lake State Natural Area Davidson Co. Nashville, TN Monday 2009 Nov. 23 7-9 am cloudy, drizzle A walk at Radnor Lake on Monday morning produced some typical wintering land birds -- WINTER WREN, BROWN CREEPER, YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER, HERMIT THRUSH, and a lingering EASTERN PHOEBE. I also found the adult RED-HEADED WOODPECKER previously seen by a couple other birders. Perhaps it is planning to stay the winter. It was about half way between benches 36 and 37 on the Ganier Ridge Trail and was a bit below (on the trail) the second of the switch-backs (going up to the ridge) that have a wooden railing to help navigate the steep trail. Ducks still have not arrived in large numbers.
