Radnor Lake State Natural Area
Davidson Co.,
Nashville, TN
2011 Sept. 8
7-9:10 am
Partly cloudy skies with some sun!

With the rain and clouds finally gone from the area, instead of
a visit to Snow Bunting Peninsula (Old Hickory Dam, Davidson Co.),
which yesterday morning still had CASPIAN, BLACK, and COMMON TERNS
plus a MERLIN, and very distant and not very satisfying views of
3 JAEGERs, this Thursday morning I walked to Long Bridge and back
at Radnor Lake and found a very different mix of birds. There was
a nice mixed flock of migrants at the dam with six warbler species,
SWAINSON'S THRUSHes and VEERYs, a female SCARLET TANAGER, HOUSE
WREN, and a YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER just below the dam in some
willow trees. Best warbler of the morning was a female WILSON'S.
All in all it was a great walk before heading to work.

Birds of interest at Radnor included:

Green Heron 3
Wild Turkey 13
Ruby-throated Hummingbird 1
Eastern Wood-Pewee 4
Yellow-bellied Flycatcher 1
Acadian Flycatcher 1
Eastern Phoebe 1
White-eyed Vireo 1
House Wren 1
Veery 2
Swainson's Thrush 6
Brown Thrasher 2

Warblers:
Black-and-white 1
Common Yellowthroat 1
Am. Redstart 1
Magnolia 8
Yellow 1
Yellow-throated 1
Wilson's 1 female

Summer Tanager 1
Scarlet Tanager 1 female
