Radnor Lake State Natural Area Davidson Co. Nashville, TN Wednesday 2007 October 17 07:00-09:00am cloudy This morning was the last Wednesday walk of the season at Radnor Lake for the Nashville chapter of TOS. The bulk of neotropical migrants have passed, but there were still a few species about. I saw 6 species of warblers. YELLOW- RUMPEDs of course dominated, with the other 5 species, including MAGNOLIA, being seen as just one or two birds. The best of these was a male WILSON'S WARBLER near the dam. One BLUE-HEADED VIREO that came to check out the complaints of several CAROLINA WRENs near Long Bridge was a nice addition. ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAKs are still coming through in numbers with a half dozen individuals found. The chittering of several CHIMNEY SWIFTs was heard. Winter birds slowly pile up. About a dozen WHITE-THROATED SPARROWs were noted plus several RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS and a YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER. There were also 25+ CANADA GEESE on the lake toward the east end. I headed to work before the walk finished so perhaps they found other birds of interest. -- Frank Fekel Tennessee State University Center of Excellence in Information Systems 3500 John A.
