Radnor Lake State Natural Area
Davidson Co.
Nashville, TN
Wednesday, 2008 Sep. 10
7:15-10:00 am
mostly cloudy

Just as I did yesterday I walked from the West Parking lot
to Long Bridge and back, most of the time with Gary Casey.
Finding migrants was much more difficult today, as the birds
of interest were mostly in the tops of the tall trees.
Nevertheless, it was a morning dominated by AM. REDSTARTs,
and I ultimately finished with 10 species of warblers.
A lone COMMON NIGHTHAWK that Gary spotted flying toward
us was a nice addition.

As we returned along the Lake Trail from Long Bridge,
Gary and I encounted the NTOS Wednesday Walk group and
compared notes. They had seen several warbler species that
had eluded the two of us. My best warbler flock was between
the dam and the parking lot along the Spillway Trail.
Highlights there included CANADA, male BLACKURNIAN, CHESTNUT
SIDED, N. PARULA, BLACK-THROATED GREEN, BLACK-AND-WHITE as
well as AM. REDSTART and MAGNOLIA WARBLERs.

I'm sure that the NTOS group will have more to report.

Birds of interest included:
Pied-billed Grebe 1
Green Heron 2
Common Nighthawk 1
Acadian Flycatcher 1
White-eyed Vireo 4
Red-eyed Vireo 1
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher 2
Summer Tanager 2

Warblers:
Blue-winged 3
N. Parula 1
Chestnut-sided 2
Magnolia 11
Black throated Green 2
Blackburnian 1 male
Black-and-white 6
Am Redstart 16 (2 adult males)
Common Yellowthroat 1
Canada 2
