Radnor Lake State Natural Area Davidson Co. Nashville, TN 2011 April 6 7:15-9:10 am clear, cool My first morning Wednesday Walk of the season produced a nice mix of birds. The COMMON LOON that was dropped off yesterday was still on the lake, slowly wandering about the west end. An OSPREY briefly flew low over the east end of the lake. Species that essentially tied for the highest number of birds (60+)were YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER and AMERICAN COOT. There were plenty of swifts and swallows coursing over the lake and at least 7 PIED-BILLED GREBEs migrating through as well. I finally saw my first spring singing BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER and also a singing YELLOW-THROATED VIREO, both along Otter Creek Road. Driving by Walter S. Davis marsh in Nashville as I approached work another OSPREY briefly circled the marsh before heading back to Cumberland River territory.
