Radnor Lake State Natural Area Nashville-Davidson County, TN 26 June 2013 I have been a regular hiker at both Radnor Lake and Warner Parks in Nashville for over 12 years. While there are portions of both parks that would seem to be conducive to Hooded Warbler nesting, in the 12 years I have regularly hiked these areas, I do not recall ever encountering a Hooded Warbler in either location any later than the end of May. These birds are certainly present during Spring migration, but after that I have had no sign of them. Last Wednesday, 19 June on an early morning hike on the South Cove trail at Radnor Lake I heard what certainly sounded like a Hooded Warbler. It sang only a few times, however. Today in the same location the song of a Hooded Warbler was again present. The bird sang quite bit today. I heard the bird on the eastern end of South Cove Trail back as deep as the trail goes before it turns west. I'm wondering if there are any records of nesting Hooded Warblers at Radnor in recent times. Is what appears to be an unusual bird at Radnor in late June really all that unusual?
