Waterfowl at Radnor Lake are in continuing flux. A walk around
the lake Friday morning produced Pied-billed Grebes, Ring-necked
Ducks, American Coots, nice numbers of Blue-winged Teal and
a bunched up raft of Lesser Scaup. Plenty of resident Wood Ducks
were decked out in their dress uniforms. The best species of the
morning was my first of the year sighting of Chimney Swifts, a
harbinger of things to come. A few N. Rough-winged Swallow
also flew low over the lake. The flock of Cedar Waxwings near
the dam, seen earlier in the week, was still in attendance.
A Yellow-bellied Sapsucker and plenty of White-throated Sparrows
reminded me that winter birds are still around.

Birds of interest included:
Pied-billed Grebe 2
Wood Duck 18
Blue-winged Teal 31
Ring-necked Duck 3
Lesser Scaup 43
American Coot 3
Chimney Swift 2
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker 1
N. Rough-winged Swallow 4
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 4
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher 15
Cedar Waxwing 35
Yellow-rumped Warbler 2
