Wednesday's game score:
Mourning Warbler 4
Connecticut Warbler 0

Birded Radnor Lake this morning with Phillip Casteel. We were out in
front of a group of about 20 birders, who came for the last of the
Nashville TOS Wednesday Walks. Although no CONNECTICUT was seen or
heard we did have 4 male MOURNING WARBLERs, bettering yesterday's
total of 3. By the end of our walk Phillip was jokingly (at least
I hope it was jokingly) calling them a trash bird. Three continued
at the same areas as yesterday and a new one was found on "Grassy
Point" (the area has grown up and no longer resembles its name) at
the top of the hill just before the deck on the Lake Trail. At the
fence, 3 CAROLINA WRENS fledged between the time we walked by the
first time and perhaps an hour or so later when we returned.

There were still good numbers of thrushes including 2 VEERYs. We had
nice looks at several other warblers besides the MOURNINGs. Of particular
interest were a stunning male BLACKBURNIAN, several CANADAs, and a
WILSON'S WARBLER. When we returned to our cars, the two of us and
Jan Shaw spied a warbler that did not cooperate very well, but we
finally concluded was an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER. The SUMMER TANAGER
with the red-orange head, molting into his summer finery, provided
an interesting distraction before we left in our vehicles.
