Robco Lake
Shelby Co. TN
Tunica Co. MS

Ran down to Tunica Co, in MS but all the real action was at Robco Lake in
Memphis. As usual my first Purple Martins for the year appeared high over the
lake along with an immature Bald Eagle. A few White Pelicans are still hanging
around among the hordes (7500 plus) of scaup. I photographed 5 first of the
year Forster's Terns, sitting on the dock.

I spent a few hours sorting through the masses of Greater and Lesser Scaup,
finding the leucistic female Lesser that has been around all winter, plus
Redheads, Canvasbacks, Ring-necks, Bufflehead, Ruddys, Mallard, Gadwall,
Shoveler, Hooded, a single female Red-breasted Merganser and photographed an
adult
winter plumaged LONG-TAILED DUCK.

There were no Rough-legged Hawks in there regular areas down in Mississippi
but I had 4 Krider's, 2 dark morph Harlan's and 2 distant immature dark hawks
among the numerous raptors down there. There are 6 Western Meadowlarks off of
Arkabutla Dam Road along with 18 Sandhill Cranes. Lots of geese
..............
