Hi everyone, I put up a purple martin house a few days ago and have had them circling for a few days…not often but I have seen them each day. Today, they were a little more active and one actually landed and stayed for a good ten minutes going in and out of the holes. Well, guess who else likes the house…house sparrows. They were actually on the house when the purple martin was there. I lowered the house after the martin left and pulled out all the grass the sparrows put in. I have traps set below the house. What else can I do to deter them from hanging out on the house until they get caught in the traps? I so want the martins, but am afraid they won't use the house if the sparrows are hanging around. Oh, I have 6 holes plugged and 6 open right now. Thanks, Lee Anne Russell Haywood County=================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER==================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to SIGN YOUR MESSAGE with first and last name, CITY (TOWN) and state abbreviation.
