The Purple Gallinule was again observed this morning at the Cattails
Golf Course. Jim Anderson, Debi Campbell, and I arrived there about
8:15 a.m. Rack Cross had arrived there earlier and had observed it but
it had flown back into the cattails and was not visible. About 8:40
a.m., Neal and Jean Hensen arrived and, simultaneously, the Gallinule
came out of the cattails and posed on a log at the edge of the
vegetation for about 20 min.
Other birds heard or observed include Virginia Rail, Killdeer,
Kingfisher, Common Yellowthroat, Swainson's Thrush, and at least 17
other common species.
