An apparent irruption of Purple Finches is occurring across the region, based
on all the reports being posted on various forums.Today, my wife pointed at the
feeders and said we had at least one dozen Purple Finches. I counted 14, the
most ever seen at this location here in Pittman Center TN, by far. The
previous high number was last week when I saw 5 here, 2 adults and thee female
type. I took a video of the finches today and put it on the Facebook page Birds
and Birding in Sevier County. There is also a House Finch in the video.This is
also the earliest Purple Finches have arrived here. In 2017/2018 a Purple Finch
