J. Percy Priest Lake, Davidson County TN
Ten hardy birders braved a cold morning breeze to check out late fall bird
activity at Percy Priest Lake. Overall the lake was quiet; moderate numbers of
ducks were on the move, with several expected species identified. First Common
Loons and Horned Grebes are in. Highlights include a late OSPREY, and an adult
Bald Eagle at 7-Points boat ramp. First-of-season sightings for some of us
included: Bonaparte's gulls, Hooded Mergansers, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Hermit
Thrush. A couple of large rafts (~500) of Am. Coots were observed from Anderson
Rec. Area. A good start to the winter season at Percy Priest. (For a sampling
of what was seen Ruben Stoll will have his personal lists from this morning on
eBird.)
