Laura,
Have you listened to various toad species (American, Fowler's)?

I’ve had 2 Pine Siskins at the feeder today—a nice surprise! Still have at
least 5 Rose-breasted Grosbeaks (4 males, 1 female), and I also spotted an
Indigo Bunting in the yard today.
I’m having trouble identifying a sound I keep hearing and would welcome
suggestions. It’s a soft tremolo, and I’m only hearing it in the middle of
the night or relatively early in the morning (probably not past 8:30 or
so). It’s lower and slightly slower than a Screech-owl; it has a different
quality that I can’t quite describe. But that’s my closest guess so far.
It isn’t a frog. I do have gray tree frogs calling, so I can verify that
it isn’t anything close to their tight, ringing trill.
Does anyone have ideas for what it could be?
Thanks,
