Radnor Lake State Natural Area Davidson Co. Nashville, TN Wednesday 4 October 2006 7-10 am It was a wonderful migration morning at Radnor Lake. Weather was initially cool and there were numerous flocks of migrants. Phillip Casteel and I wandered ahead of the regular NTOS group and found it well worth our while. While MAGNOLIA WARBLERs dominated in numbers (40+), PHILADELPHIA VIREOs were more numerous that I have ever seen them, we counted 15 and there were likely more, some pale and others in much brighter yellow plumage. The only species of vireo missing from our morning was WARBLING. BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLERs also made an impressive showing as did ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAKs. One YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER called and posed long enough to be identified. Birds of interest included: Yellow-bellied Flycatcher 1 White-eyed Vireo 2 Blue-headed Vireo 1 Yellow-throated Vireo 3 Philadelphia Vireo 15 Red-eyed Vireo 3 Tennessee Warbler 3 Nashville Warbler 2 Northern Parula 1 Chestnut-sided Warbler 1 Magnolia Warbler 40+ Yellow-rumped Warbler 6+ Black-throated Green Warbler 17 Blackburnian Warbler 1 Bay-breasted Warbler 1 Black-and-white Warbler 5 American Redstart 8 plus one adult male Hooded Warbler 2 females Wilson's Warbler 2 Summer Tanager 4 Scarlet Tanager 2 Rose-breasted Grosbeak 10+ -- Frank Fekel Tennessee State University Center of Excellence in Information Systems 3500 John A.
