16 Oct 2009 4:35pm Clarksville On the way home from work today I was traveling south down Fort Campbell Blvd and entered the east-bound loop of the Hwy 374 Bypass interchange. I noticed a large falcon in the top of a snag on the left side that caught my eye. I pulled over to view with binocs and saw a moustachial stripe and white cheek patch. I quickly got out for a better look and observed dark streaking on the underparts and a paler color on top of it's head consistant with an immature Peregrine falcon. The bird remained perched for another 2-3 minutes and then flew south towards a group of flying Rock pigeons when I lost sight of it. The powerlines at this interchange usually contain pigeons, which may have lured the bird in. This is the first Peregrine falcon I have seen in Clarksville or Montgomery county.
