Sunday Sept. 21, 2008 This morning 7 members of Cumberland Harpeth Audubon Society walked the trails at Peeler Park checking for early fall birds. This is a new metro Nashville city park at the end of Neely's Bend. Nashville TOS has had a couple of field trips there but this was my first visit. The habitat is similar to Shelby Bottoms, old fields and treelines near the Cumberland River, so many of the birds were the same ( for 3 of us who were on yesterday's outing over there). We had lots of Brown Thrashers, Indigo Buntings and a few Catbirds. We did have one good mixed flock of warblers which we never found on yesterday's Shelby Park outing. partial list: Yellow-billed Cuckoo 1 White-eyed vireo 4 House Wren 1 Veery 1 (heard only) Swainson's Thrush 2 ( " " ) Gray Catbird 4 Brown Thrasher 8 Blue-winged Warbler 1 Tennessee Warbler 2 Northern Parula 1 Chestnut-sided Warbler 1 Magnolia Warbler 8 American Redstart 1 Common Yellowthroat 3 Summer Tanager 2 Indigo Bunting 25+ Richard Connors Nashville **************Looking for simple solutions to your real-life financial challenges?
