[February 3] Alice Loftin, Linda Northrop, and I birded Wal-Mart Distribution Center and nearby sites in western Greene County this morning and afternoon, with several nice results: Palm Warbler; Horned Lark (2); Rusty Blackbird (12+); Ring-billed Gull (22). Palm Warbler is reasonably regular in winter in Greene County, while Horned Lark is quite uncommon at all times of year, and Rusty Blackbird tends not to show up until late winter and early spring. Ring-billed Gull is occasionally seen in the county but not nearly as often as in nearby areas that have TVA lakes. Ducks have been scarce in Greene County this year and remained so today, but we did manage to find 42 Gadwall and 13 Green-winged Teal.
