The Painted Bunting in East Knox County was seen twice yesterday between 11:30
and 11:45. Both times the bird stayed for only a couple of minutes. It was not
coming to a feeder nor seemed to be associating with other birds. The
homeowner is Karin Beuerlein and she maintains several feeders in her backyard.
This morning I was able to see the bird along with Karin and her husband. It
showed up at 11:30 and stayed 3 minutes. It did not come to a feeder but
remained perched in some of her shrubs. It has not reappeared as of 3:40 to my
knowledge.
Where the bird has been seen is in a fenced in backyard No roadside viewing.
Karin and her husband both work from their home. They have agreed to let 3
people visit for one hour during the morning. Unfortunately the next several
days is already allotted.
If the bird starts showing up more frequently the situation may change and I
will let people know if it does
