Susan and I birded Woods Reservoir late this afternoon. The wind was calm
which made viewing the ducks and loons much easier. Numbers of gulls were
down considerably. We were able to see at close range a Red-throated Loon
about 75 yards off the south end of the dam. Later, while scoping from the
Recreation Center parking lot on the north side of lake, we had several
loons within 200 yards of shore and were able to look through them under
ideal viewing conditions, spotting a Pacific Loon among the Commons.

At the pumping station, we located 10 Common Mergansers.
