With the two inches plus of snow here in DeKalb county we were out early
scraping and sweeping so we could get some seed out for the birds when they
woke up. They were grateful and came in large numbers to feed. At one point
we counted over 75 Pine Siskins on the ground and feeder, enjoying the thistle
and sunflower seeds. It is the most we have ever seen at one time, until today
our largest flock was 11. What a beautiful sight, they outnumbered the
Goldfinches about 9 to 1. It will take a look of seed if they choose to stay
here for the winter. We certainly hope they do.
