Old Hickory Lake
Davidson and Sumner counties

NTOS members enjoyed a cold morning at Old Hickory Lake, starting with a
fogged in lake, but ending in partial sunshine. Some highlights included a
flock of beautiful Hooded Mergansers in a pond across from Drake's Creek, one
adult Bald Eagle soaring over the same area, one Least Sandpiper at Snow
Bunting
Peninsula (Dean Edwards, we needed you there for a Snow Bunting sighting),
close-up looks at Bonaparte's Gulls, one Tree Swallow at the mouth of Drake's
Creek thanks to Chris Sloan (a new late date for the Nashville Area), lots of
kinglets along the nature trail by the dam, 2 Pine Warblers in the same pine
woods, and good looks at striking Fox Sparrows and White-crowned Sparrows.
