clear, cool

After enjoying a Wednesday walk at Radnor but missing the MOURNING
WARBLER and BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO that some of the NTOS birders saw,
I could not resist another visit. I did not find those two species
but the weather was near perfect and the bird knew it! It was a
great morning with lots of activity, mostly near the dam and along
the dam road, but several other places along the trail as well.
RED-BREASTED GROSBEAKs were the bird of the day, calling and parading
in the trees. YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERs continue their onslaught. I
got very nice looks at my first BAY-BREASTED WARBLER of the fall.
I finished the morning with 11 species of warblers. Also seen was
my first of the fall WHITE-THROATED SPARROW plus 3 TREE SWALLOWs.

Birds of interest included:
Pied billed Grebe 8
Chimney Swift 55
White-eyed Vireo 1
Philadelphia Vireo 2
Swainson's Thrush 2
Gray Catbird 3
Cedar Waxwing 30

Warblers:
Tennessee 4
Nashville 3
N. Parula 1
Magnolia 6
Yellow-rumped 22
Black-throated Green 8
Blackburnian 1
Bay-breasted 1
American Redstart 2
Ovenbird 2
Wilson's 1

Summer Tanager 1
Scarlet Tanager 1
White-throated Sparrow 1
Rose-breasted Grosbeak 17
Indigo Bunting 4
