FYI, a TOWNSEND's SOLITAIRE is being seen at Grandfather Mountain just
across the state line in western NC. First spotted yesterday and
relocated this morning (Fri). There has also been a LIMPKIN for a few
weeeks in (relatively) nearby Iredell Co, NC for a nice two-fer.

Subject: Townsend's Solitaire at Grandfather Mountain
Hey folks,
Curtis Smalling just located a Townsend's Solitaire on the Swinging Bridge
at Grandfather Mountain. He gave me a call and I rush up but didn't see it
initially. After about 25 minutes it re-appeared. It's really actively
feeding in the spruce and fir as well as the understory huckleberry bushes.
It has a very obvious white eye ring, diagnostic rusty orange wing patch
and brownish orange secondaries. Long tail, gray back and tail (darker
toward the tail) light gray belly. Photos were taken. I'll post more later.
I have to run to a meeting. Photos are posted on Carolina Birders and
Carolina Bird Club Facebook pages.
