The pale bird photographed by Bob Foehring ay Ensley the same day as the Stoll's Ruff is actually a very large Juvenile Pectoral Sandpiper. Note the scapular and mantle stripes. Pectorals have a notoriously huge range in size, and some giant individuals are Killdeer-sized. It is very east to confuse them with one of the larger shorebird species; I have done this myself!
